Windy Knob Farms is still in the beginning stages of developing its products.  Currently we have a flock of laying hens that are producing excellent farm fresh eggs.  Their brown eggs are laid from birds that are managed wonderfully in great space free from cages and hormones.  When the season permits, these birds are out and about in our pastures which results in eggs with significantly higher levels of protein and Omega 3’s.

Eggs are available at $3 a dozen.  Our packaging is made from post consumer recycled paper products and we hope that you will continue the trend and return our egg cartons back to be used again;  thus keeping costs low, while reducing waste.

While we are still “young” in our development, we have several ventures well underway.  Check back for updates this spring when we will have a better idea of which products will be available for purchase.

Our garden will be in its second season producing corn, potatoes, peppers and more; we will also have a limited supply of Sweet Cherries in July and Bartlett Pears in August.

The garden grows right along side our young table grape vines and Heritage Raspberries which will double in size this spring.

If all goes well we will move down the hill in September to the pumpkin patch, as families look to start their new traditions of picking their pumpkins at the Windy Knob patch on a crisp Leelanau autumn day.  Look for the glimpses of orange when the trees just start to drop their leaves, revealing the first signs of ripening pumpkins along the beautiful stretch of M22 we call home.

The season will close as new life starts with the breeding of our newest residents.  The sheep will begin their breeding season just before 2010 arrives, producing our first lambing crop and the finest of fleeces to be enjoyed by hand spinners and more.  We will be expecting fine grass fed lamb meat and fleeces around early spring of the next year.

Always a lot going on here at Windy Knob Farms, please check back often and of course visit our contact page to ask any questions about any of our products.
